How It Works

New jokes are generated automatically throughout the day via scheduled cron jobs running on Vercel's infrastructure. Each generation run uses Google's Gemini AI (“gemini-2.5-flash”) with a curated prompt tailored to the specific joke category. Recent jokes are passed to the model as context so it avoids repeating setups. The schedule runs on UTC time:

• 8:00 AM UTC — Dad joke
• 10:00 AM UTC — Girl Tea joke
• 12:00 PM UTC — Millennial joke
• 2:00 PM UTC — Dirty joke
• 4:00 PM UTC — Knock-Knock joke

Each generated joke is stored in a Neon Postgres database and immediately available on the homepage. Every joke is also added to the searchable archive so you can scroll through the full collection whenever you need a laugh (or a groan). You can also generate jokes on demand using the Generator tool on the homepage.
