I was helping my kids with their science project, trying to grow crystals in a jar. We carefully mixed the solution and waited for what felt like forever for the crystals to form. As we were observing the jar, I started thinking about the process of crystal formation and how it's all about finding the right balance of ingredients and conditions.

I guess you could say it was a 'gem' of a project!

So I was at the park with my kids, and we saw a person flying a kite that was shaped like a shark. The kids were thrilled to see it soaring through the air, and we started talking about the different types of kites you can buy. I asked the person how they got their kite to fly so high, and they said

it was a jaws-dropping experience

I told my wife I was going to make a belt out of bread dough.

She said, "That's a waist of good bread!"
