I wanted to get my dad the perfect Father's Day gift this year.

So I just subtly moved his favorite wrench one slot over in his toolbox. He'll be happily perplexed for hours.

I asked my dad what his favorite 'dad power' was, expecting him to say fixing cars or grilling perfect burgers.

He just smiled and said, 'It's knowing exactly when you need a quiet hug, and when you need a ridiculously bad pun to make you smile.' And honestly, he's never been wrong.

My dad always told me there wasn't a problem he couldn't fix.

And he was right. Every time I had one, he'd just tell me a truly awful dad joke, and suddenly, my problem felt a little less overwhelming... and I felt a lot more loved.

I spent all day making my dad's favorite meal for Father's Day, but when I presented it to him, he just smiled and said he was full from all the memories we've shared over the years.
